Workshop Description:
Psychotherapy is an intersubjective process in which the therapist’s use of self is an active ingredient, continually interacting with the client’s emotional experiences to co-create change and growth. Being an ethical psychotherapist necessitates an ongoing commitment to self-analysis that frees us to engage authentically with clients, while preventing us from acting in a reflexive manner, in the absence of self-awareness. This workshop explores ways to develop and maintain the personal qualities that allow us to be effective, ethical psychotherapists. Particular attention will be paid to the complex interactions and ethical dilemmas that arise in group psychotherapy.
